Let’s face it, the sneaker industry thrives on the rivalry between Nike and adidas the same way that high fashion loves a good old Louis Vuitton vs. Gucci fight. Not wanting to get left in the wake of the recent Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration, Gucci has teamed up with adidas to bring their counterpunch into the market.

About adidas x Gucci

We first got a glimpse of the adidas and Gucci collaboration at the Exquisite Gucci Fall 2022 show during Milan Fashion Week back in February. It was the first show that Alessandro Michele put on after a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic and it was also a show that Rihanna pulled up to rocking her full baby bump.

According to Gucci, the collection is a powered by a “nostalgia-driven ethos” where “silhouettes inspired by collegiate style unfold through a retro color palette and reimagined sports clubs’ uniforms.”

The collection

With pieces dedicated to both men and women, you can find everything from classic duffle bags that have a reverse Gucci logo on them to bold bucket hats with monogram prints and a wide range of jackets, polos and full sweat suit sets.

As is the case with numerous brands today, accessories play a large role with consumers and this collection delivers. Not only do we get the aforementioned duffle bag ($3700 for large, $3,300 for medium, $2,790-$3,100 for mini) and bucket hat ($620-$650), there’s also variations in footwear like a Gazelle sneaker offering ($850), leather clog ($1,250), loafer ($1,100), and platform sandal ($620).

Other accessories include a Marmont belt ($630), Trefoil belt ($580), belt ($495), ankle socks ($235), cotton socks ($290), baseball hat ($560-$590), wide-brimmed hat ($860), phone case ($990-$1,050), mini top handle bag ($$1,350-1,700), small shoulder bag ($1,980-$2,200), fingerless leather gloves ($600), backpack ($3,400), sun umbrella ($1,290 and ridiculed in China for not being waterproof), umbrella seat ($1,650) and chain necklace ($990).

Gucci has incorporated their classic monogram design into a handful of items as well as their love for oversized logos — both their own and adidas’. We’re also getting a plethora of sweat suit and track suit variations out of the duo that really tap into the Three Stripes’ DNA.

You can take a look at the pricing of each item on gucci.com now to figure out what you want to cop from the collection.

The lookbook

Gucci and adidas made sure to style the lookbook in a way that reflects an active lifestyle — especially for the rich. We don’t know how much that adidas x Gucci leather golf bag is, but we sure as hell want one. Full-on ’80s basketball, skater and tennis vibes are in full swing in this beautiful lookbook. You can take a look at all the styles below.

How to buy

We posed the question of whether or not you’re copping anything so here’s all the information on how to go about the process.

Gucci stores, dedicated pop-ups (which have yet to be announced), the adidas CONFIRMED app and gucci.com (must have a MY GUCCI account), will be releasing parts of the collection on June 7 (Tuesday). If you are a Gucci VIP or have a personal shopping associate in their stores, now is the time to hit up your plug.

And don’t forget some Gucci locations will even let you pay in crypto. Good luck everyone.
