Fire Finds: airKAVE Portable Air Purifier

World’s first SARS-CoV-2 portable antiviral air sanitizer.

Over the last 15 months plus, we’ve spent a lot of time indoors and learning to protect ourselves from the pandemic, especially our lungs. An easy and highly effective tool to have around in our homes were air purifiers. Some of them even looked amazing, like the IKEA FÖRNUFTIG Air Purifier.

Well, even though the CDC and President Biden has announced that Americans who are fully vaccinated don’t need to wear a mask indoors or outdoors anymore, there is still the risk of exposure to those who haven’t been vaccinated – or lie about it. If you have learned to be extra careful in the past year and need a portable air purifier in case, airKAVE has got you covered.

airKAVE Portable

What exactly is the airKAVE Portable? The device is an air purifier, or air sanitizer if you will, that is the world’s first portable device that passed an independent test proving it can fight COVID-19. Thanks to its compact build, measuring only 3.3″ wide by 1.8″ long and 7.2″ tall, the airKAVE can be used in personal spaces like your office, car, or even while traveling, to allow you to feel safer while limiting the chance for airborne spread. Personally, it looks and reminds me a lot of the old school disposable bodega cups.

How does it work?

According to the official press release from the company:

“Plasma is generated at room temperature within the Plascide reactor. Its air sanitization capability is based on the generation of energetic charged particles [electrons and ions] and the associated physio-chemical effects to destroy microbes such as SARS-CoV-2 and H1N1 Influenza, rendering them inactive and harmless. The entire process takes place within the device without releasing ions into the living environment.”

In simpler terms, the device is basically destroying the disease causing microorganisms at the molecular level.

The Plascide reactor that powers the device was developed by Dr. Herman Tsui, a world-renowned nuclear physicist. The reactor works by pulling the particles into it and “creating a thunderstorm of micro-lightning plasma which puts the microscopic particles into an electrified state at room temperature. The micro-lightning is able to sanitize air with a speed many times faster than other technologies such as UV, PCO, HEPA, Ozone and Ionizers.”

What is it effective against?

airKAVE has been proven through independent research to help fight against not only SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), but also Influenza (the flu), Tuberculosis, E. Coli and MRSA.

Who did the testing and what were the results?

Testing was done by MRIGlobal, where they confirmed that the filterless airKAVE device destroyed aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 within a fraction of a second and “progressive viral deactivation trend over one hour testing trials.” The results found that “comparative SARS-CoV-2 aerosol percentage viability with the Test Device [airKAVE] operational in related to baseline [Control] test results, showed viral deactivation rates of 80.05%, 95.72%, 98.22% and 98.92% for sample time points of 7.5, 22.5, 37.5, and 52.5 minutes respectively.”

How to buy airKAVE

airKAVE is currently only available to the U.S. market and is currently all sold out at the time of writing. Single units were on sale for $349.99 (instead of $399.99) in three colors: aqua, rosette or grey. There was also a pair of them for $599.99 (instead of $799.99), so you can understand the demand was there. To stay up-to-date on restocks so you can buy your own, visit airkave.com. In the meantime, please stay safe everyone.
