New York-based boutique and label Alife has teamed up with Champion and Urban Outfitters for a special capsule collection to celebrate Black History Month.

Together the trio have crafted a hoodie capsule collection that features and celebrates Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) . 20 schools and institutions of higher education established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for the education of Black Americans are represented on the grey Champion hoodies while their names and school colors make up the design aspect on the front chest section of the garment. In order to get the licensing for this capsule collection, collegiate licensing company CLC was brought in. The HBCUs included in the capsule collection are: Albany State University, Cheyney University, Clark Atlanta University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University (FAMU), Fisk University, Grambling State University, Howard University, Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), Lincoln University, Morehouse College, Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, Norfolk State University, Spelman College, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University and Xavier University.

Treis Hill, an Alife partner and Hampton University alumni had this to say:

“I am trilled that this collection, which celebrates all of the culture, community and connectivity which an HBCU experience brings, is being showcased by Urban Outfitters and Champion.”

You can shop the collection now on and, each hoodie is $89.
