Another big bad setup film.

The big bad himself is about to make his big debut, and I don’t think we are ready. Ant-Man and the Wasp are about to face one of the most nefarious (and not to mention powerful) supervillains Marvel has to offer, and will yet again set up the Avengers for another large scale war. You thought Thanos and The Blip was bad? Clip your seatbelt in, because Kang the Conqueror is far worse, and has the power of the multiverse in his pocket and on his side.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania starts with Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) creating a communication passageway to the Quantum Realm — something Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) immediately objects to. Scott Lang, Cassie Lang, Hope Van Dyne, Janet Van Dyne, and Hank Pym are then sucked into Cassie’s contraption and sent directly into the Quantum Realm and Janet Van Dyne’s worst fear has been realized. We see that the Quantum Realm isn’t just some desolate and endless land, but a fully developed realm with multiple worlds.

In one of these worlds, the world that happens to be home to Kang the Conqueror, we see that it’s built on what looks like moving rings — rings that look suspiciously similar to the rings we are introduced to in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Remember, the rings’ origins are still unknown, so it wouldn’t be out of this world to imagine that they reside in a realm beyond time and space.

An exciting and curious addition to the cast is William Jackson Harper (The Good Place). His involvement with this project is being kept very close to Marvel Studios’ chest, but fans have deduced that we might have our new Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. This would make a lot of sense, seeing as The Fantastic Four is set to introduce us into Phase 6 of the MCU, and Mr. Fantastic’s introduction would tie-in perfectly considering his supposed connection to Kang. We can touch on that complicated matter at another time.

Quantumania is meant to be the primer for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, the two movies that will close out the Multiverse Saga. This isn’t the first time Ant-Man has set the stage for an epic fight for humanity. Ant-Man and the Wasp came right before Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, with the Quantum Realm being the solution to Thanos’ snap. Here’s to hoping that Quantumania is being used for more than just its catapulting and informational abilities.

This is what you need to know about Kang The Conqueror, and why he’s 10 times worse than Thanos. Along with Johnathan Majors, who’s ready to see Bill Murray make his Marvel debut?
