You’re too old to smell bad. In the spirit of grooming and self care, the ULTRA team stormed Sephora and went ham.

In between sniffing ourselves light-headed, we talked with a Sephora employee who reminded us that “fragrance is an extension of who you are” and it’s “all about your individual character.” Deodorants only mask, while colognes enhance – smelling good doesn’t have to be a luxury and rocking a distinctive scent is a tell-tale sign of maturity. Be that guy.

We’re here to bring you our definitive reviews of this season’s must-have fragrances – let us be your nose.

Light Blue Eau Intense by Dolce & Gabbana

Light Blue is a manly scent par excellence. If you’re a sophisticated male looking to round out your style and presence with urban charm, this is the fragrance for you. Musk wood, incense, and oak moss provide the base for this aroma. Strength and suave are carried through to the middle tones of Sichuan pepper, rosemary, and rosewood. These hints of masculinity elevate the unique citrus and juniper scents masked in. This is the perfume to wear on a night out in the town!

Chanel: Bleu de Chanel

This classic and very comfortable “blue” scent from Chanel is ideal for daily wear. We can guarantee that it will never become too overpowering nor cloying. Bleu de Chanel adds a friendly, peaceful aura in the background as you go about your daily routine. It’s not surprising this is a best seller.

Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme (Armani)

Acqua Di Gio remains legendary even 20 years later. Armani’s citrus, aquatic, spicy, musk smell might be too mainstream for some, but it does smell good.  Even though the scent is far from original, it still retains a certain charm – a familiarity. Go ahead, we won’t judge you for buying it.

Dior Sauvage

Dior Sauvage is multifaceted in its olfactory notes: one part sleek, powerful and charming – think part guy in a well-tailored suit ready to impress whoever crosses his way with a touch of guy who built his own cabin in the woods. It’s incredibly musky and confident: no one could wear a cologne that’s so self-assured without having a certain level of swag.

Terre d’Hermès

Though the fragrance is predominantly woody and spicy, Terre d’Hermès features a rich blend of harmonious notes from a plethora of families. The overall warm and soft fragrance is accentuated by fresh notes that contrast its heavy structure. It’s a cascading crescendo of olfactory nodes – it slowly and seamlessly builds up. The lasting result is deeply harmonious in composition and scent, a delicate balance between soft and exciting. Basically, it smells fucking great.

Versace Eros

The name of this fragrance says it all. Versace’s Eros is all about passion, beauty, and desire. Greek mythology has characterized the Versace world since the beginning, so the sensuality of the male body is evoked with an allusion to Eros, the god of love. This is a fragrance for a strong and passionate man, who is the master of himself. The fragrance is accented notes like tonka beans, amber, geranium flower, and vanilla melds with a hint cedarwood, pushing it over to the masculine sensual side.

TOM FORD: Ombré Leather

The Ombré Leather fragrance by TOM FORD is a butch, strong and masculine scent.  But frankly, it’s a little basic.

Dior Homme Sport

Classics are classics for a reason. This sexy woody fragrance is rich with spicy freshness. Dior Homme Sport’s composition plays on fruity nodes while retaining its sporty feel all the while encapsulating Dior Homme’s identity. We absolutely loved this fragrance.
