2020 may be remembered as the year cozy wear officially took over. Although Crocs have been providing comfortable shoe options since 2002, the footwear brand has seen an increase in popularity over the last few years.

 

Days before Nicki Minaj premiered “Seeing Green,” her new song with Lil Wayne and Drake, and re-released her breakthrough mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty, she caused the Crocs website to crash. All the Queen rapper did was post a picture of herself in a pair of hot pink Crocs and her loyal fans flocked to Crocs’ online shop, which immediately resulted in a 4,900% increase in sales of Crocs. Justin Bieber and Post Malone’s respective Croc collabs have also caused a frenzy recently, selling out within minutes.

 

Once a fashion faux pas, the rubber slip-ons now garner the attention of fashionistas from around the globe and the fashion houses are taking note. Two of 2021’s most anticipated pieces of footwear are the recently unveiled Balenciaga-designed stiletto and rain boot Crocs silhouettes.
