Few New York designers have had a New York success story like Telfar Clemens. Now the designer’s signature bag is so ubiquitous that it’s been dubbed the “Bushwick Birkin.”

Vegan leather, available in three sizes and multiple colors – the Telfar Shopping Bag has been seen on the shoulders of A$AP Ferg and Solange, and now apparently every young creative across the East River. “When I wear it, it makes me feel like the ultimate girl, like I’m in charge of the spaces that I’m in, whether I’m walking in my neighborhood, at school, or at my internships,” Marcos Bonilla, a 20-year-old student, told The Cut.

While the original Hermès Birkin costs as much as a semester at NYU, Telfar’s Birkin can be enjoyed for under $300. A designer for the people.
