Men, your skin needs some TLC.

Environmental affects like air pollution have a huge effect on our skin, which can speed up the appearance of aging. The moisture from humid air opens your pores making it more susceptible to dirt, while dry air can lead to the skin becoming red and cracking. Mix in some air pollution and you are left with a recipe for eczema and acne.

What is a skincare routine? The basics; cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.

Cleanser is pretty self-explanatory, it cleanses your skin, removing oil, dirt, pollutants, and unclogs your pores. Why can’t you just use regular soap, water, and body lotion? Aside from the 1% of the population with flawless genetics, the skin on your face is much thinner than the rest of your body, not to mention the fact that it is always exposed.

Toners typically contain essential acids, anti-oxidants, and anti-inflammatories. It balances the pH level of your skin after cleansing and helps your skin absorb moisturizer.

Moisturizers – again, self-explanatory but very essential and often overlooked. Not only does it restore moisture, it acts as a barrier protecting your skin from outside elements. And dehydrated skin shows more wrinkles! The skin around your eyes is even more sensitive than the rest of your face, and there are specialty eye creams to target different concerns. From brightening dark circles to reducing the appearance of fine lines.

In order to choose the right products for your skin, figure out which category you fall under…

  • normal
  • oily
  • dry

If you wanna be a real glow-getter, add specialty products to your routine based on your skin concerns. Serums and masks can be used a few times a week to boost your routine and target issues like dullness, redness, enlarged pores, etc.

Let’s face it fellas (pun intended), women love men who care about their skin as much as we do. Slumber party anyone?
