I apologize in advance for dropping three consecutive beverages for our weekly Fire Finds column but I can’t help it when there’s a fire design around a beverage I f*ck with heavily like Hennessy.
Celebrating its 150th anniversary, Hennessy X.O collaborated with world-renowned architect Frank Gehry for a very special bottle. Known for buildings like 8 Spruce Street in NYC and Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect’s style of shape edges and extruding design is echoed on the iconic Hennessy X.O bottle and packaging.
Two bottles are offered, both designed by Gehry. The first bottle is the more affordable $230 edition which comes in a nice gold and red bottle with grape vines engraved into the bottle. But the real piece of artwork is the $17,000 Masterpiece bottle which is limited to 150 decanters. The red bottle is covered all over with gold to make it look like a rock formation and the packaging is a cardboard cutout that fits the bottle perfectly.
What’s even more amazing about the collaboration is that Hennessy will donate all proceeds from the sale of the Masterpiece editions to the brand’s Unfinished Business initiative which is helping small businesses through COVID.
You can learn more about the collaboration here and look for it to hit the market soon.
