Fire Finds: Heron Preston x Moon Stain Removal Whitening Toothpaste

This week’s Fire Finds product plays perfectly into ULTRA’s brand messaging and aesthetics as it’s a collaborative grooming product between some big fashion industry names. Kendall Jenner’s Moon oral care brand teamed up with DJ/fashion designer/artist Heron Preston for a limited edition toothpaste.

By design, the toothpaste channels Preston’s signature orange into the coloring of the stain removing and whitening toothpaste. The toothpaste itself is fluoride-free and comes in a “Lunar Peppermint” flavor. A commemorative packaging was also created for the collaboration, with an orange box and the usual black Moon product packaging for the actual tube itself – featuring just Preston’s name in an orange stripe.

The most interesting part of this collaboration may actually be the fact that it was released through StockX’s DropX platform and started at $15. Since then, the product has been raised to $25 and only 340 units are being sold – with the platform refusing to take it back for resell.

Speaking with V Magazine, Preston talked about why he chose his signature orange color for the toothpaste and how the collaboration came to fruition:

“I thought visually this project could be really engaging. We are programmed to think toothpaste should be a certain color, so this was my chance to disrupt that. I thought this would lead people to begin to think about the taste, the flavor, the ingredients, so I was excited to be approached by Moon.”

Kendall added a little bit on why she choose to team up with Moon founder Shaun Neff and the brand:

“Shaun came to me with this idea and concept of oral beauty. For him, the category was lacking a product that was visually appealing on shelves—I was instantly attracted to the aesthetic of the brand and the product is great! It was important to the brand that we not only created visually aesthetic products but also formulas that were made without sulfates, parabens, and were cruelty-free, PETA certified, and vegan.”

Honestly I can’t wait to try this out for myself, as I personally love the color orange and it’s just the right Halloween-themed toothpaste to have in the bathroom at the crib. Head over to StockX to grab yours.
