Who would’ve thought we’d make it well into January 2021, but here we are, surviving some of the remaining shock effects of last year. With a new year, come a plethora of new opportunities for artist grants, residencies, and fellowships. Make sure to apply to them as soon as you can and secure some funds and opportunities for the start of the year.
“The Sharpe-Walentas studios are located in DUMBO, Brooklyn, a thriving waterfront community full of art galleries, creative professionals, and independent retailers. Studios have freight and passenger elevator access, high ceilings and natural light. Communal spaces include a kitchen, slop sinks, restrooms and a sitting area with wi-fi. Studio access is 24 hours/7 days week. The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program is currently accepting applications for its 2021–2022 residency period. The residency program awards studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies in Brooklyn, NY.”

“The Fellowship will offer a curriculum that integrates education, experience, mentorship, and the opportunity for innovation. The Fellow will receive training in all aspects of editing, from evaluating submissions through to publication of a piece. As part of the program, they will also learn about publishing history, including looking at examples of writer-editor interactions and the role of the editor in a changing landscape. The Editorial Fellow will receive a $10,000 stipend for this nine-month program, in which they will receive training in all aspects of editing, from evaluating submissions through the publication of a piece.”

“The Anderson Center’s Jerome Emerging Artist Residency Program offers month-long residency-fellowships at Tower View to a cohort of early-career artists from Minnesota or one of the five boroughs of New York City for concentrated, uninterrupted creative time to advance their personal artistic goals and projects.”

“Every year, we host 6-7 creators each month from April-November to come to Steepletop — the landmark estate of poet/activist Edna St. Vincent Millay — to reflect, refuel and create work that otherwise might not be realized. As a resident you are invited to become an instrumental member of an intimate multidisciplinary cohort designed to be both supportive and inspirational, ideally forming professional relationships as well as friendships that last a lifetime. Our historic program, offered free-of-charge (application fee of $40): includes a creative cohort of 6–7 other residents, private bedrooms and studios, shared living/dining/kitchen/bathrooms, laundry room, workstation, B&W darkroom and use of our Alumni and Nancy Graves Memorial libraries; in addition, we provide groceries and chef-prepared communal dinners.”

“The Creative Capital Award helps artists working in all creative disciplines realize their visions and build sustainable practices. Creative Capital provides each funded project with up to $50,000 in direct funding and career development services valued at $50,000, for a total commitment of up to $100,000 per project.”
