Keanu Reeves and Jason Statham cast in mystery MCU roles

Head full, many thoughts.

Every big actor and their mother has been linked (or will be linked) to the MCU. It’s become a badge of honor in Hollywood to be a part of a Marvel Studios or Star Wars project, as it most likely makes their inner child scream with joy. Since the completion of the Infinity War phases, we have been seeing a wave of new characters grace the big screen and our screens at home.

With this influx of new characters in the MCU (and the insane following it has garnered in the past decade), actors with massive star power, such as Jason Statham and Keanu Reeves, joining makes more sense than not.

According to a “trusted and proven” source (via Giant Freakin Robot), Statham and Reeves are set to join the MCU. These two entering is a big deal. They’re action film veterans and can raise the already beyond-the-stratosphere bar Marvel Studios has set.

“So far, our source was able to confirm that the new project is a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as opposed to a series on Disney+. We should be seeing Keanu Reeves in an upcoming Marvel movie, and unless their plans go amiss, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any announcements for his part before it’s actually happening. This is one of the big Marvel secret castings.”

Who will Statham be playing? Seeing as he hasn’t taken roles where he strays too far from his British accent, there’s a good chance that he will be playing a character that shares his limited accent range. My guess is that Statham will be linked to Kit Harington’s Black Knight (who we were sort of introduced to during the Eternals post-credit scene along with the voice of Mahershala Ali’s Blade). As for Reeves, fans have echoed for years that they want him as Ghost Rider.

The newness of Marvel Studios’ Phase Four is exciting, but also brings us back to the feelings we had during Phase One: Confusion. Many MCU fans have made their opinions known about how disconnected this new phase is and seem to forget that the first phase is always the character establishment phase. We might get one big battle at the end of this phase with a handful of our fresh-faced heroes, but the war probably won’t be for a while.
