The Roc is in the building!
Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, has partnered with leading book publisher Random House to introduce Roc Lit 101. The Roc’s new publishing partnership is “devoted to publishing books at the dynamic intersection of entertainment and genre-defying literature” and will cover a “wide range of subjects such as music, sports, pop culture, activism, and art.”
“The goal of Roc Lit 101 is to provide a creative outlet for acclaimed wordsmiths and artists to share their visions with new audiences,” says Jana Fleishman, the Roc Nation EVP overseeing Roc Lit. “There are so many untold stories and we consider it a true privilege to be able to amplify diverse voices while exploring the uncharted worlds that are about to open to us.”
The first releases under the Roc Lit imprint, which includes CC Sabathia’s memoir Till The End and Shine Bright from legendary music journalist Danyel Smith, are slated to appear on bookshelves starting in the summer of 2021. There are also plans to release books by Lil Uzi Vert, Meek Mill, Fat Joe and Yo Gotti, as well as coming-of-age narratives, children’s books and cookbooks.
Jay-Z and Roc Nation’s school is also slated to open later this year in partnership with Brooklyn’s Long Island University campus.
