With Halloween around the corner, I opted to look for something a little more spooky this week for our Fire Finds column. In my pursuit, I stumbled across the perfect accessory from one of my favorite brands for October 31. Allow me to introduce the KAPITAL KOUNTRY French Cloth Line Kesa Scarf in a “Bone” style and indigo shade.
For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, KAPITAL is based out of Japan and its name comes from being based out of the denim capital of Japan – Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama. Formed in 1985 by Toshikiyo Hirata, the brand is known not only for incorporating denim in all sorts of ways onto apparel and accessories, but also for their love of Americana and bone and smiley graphics. KAPITAL KOUNTRY takes the DNA of the main label and adds innovative techniques and designs onto existing pieces to create pre-distressed products that look naturally aged as well as more complex patterns – thus fetching higher prices.
This week’s Halloween-ready piece is a scarf in KAPITAL’s signature indigo colorway covered with a bone arm and finger design in white. When you wrap the scarf around your neck, it leaves a spooky vibe of being hugged by a skeleton. Made from linen, cotton and polyester, this accessory will definitely keep you and your friends entertained, indoors and out. And obviously it’ll also keep you warm as well.
You can purchase the scarf now from local KAPITAL retailer Mannahatta NYC for $199. Because the indigo dye is fresh, be careful not to wear white underneath as the dye may transfer during wear – think raw denim and the dye from it staining your sneakers.
