I don’t often like to do back-to-back Fire Finds of similar products, but I had to make an exception this time around. Following last week’s Boy Smells “Best Buds” candle bundle, we’ve lined up Literie’s NYC-inspired scents candle collection.
Whether you grew up here, want to visit here, or left here, these New York City smells have become synonymous with the city itself. There’s no where else on the planet where you can have a candle scent like “summer in the subway” and immediately trigger someone’s exact memory of flaming trash, sweaty pits and steam. This one is actually an April Fool’s joke, thank goodness. If you buy this they’ll make a donation to New York Cares and sent you a more pleasing scent instead.
There’s also no other place that can mimic our “hot roasted nut cart” scent that lures you in from a couple of blocks away or the “bodega coffee” that has a specific $1 roast smell to it. But probably my favorite scent of the collection is “soft serve from the corner truck.” That annoyingly catchy song instantly sends kids running down the street and announces the departure of winter.
If you can’t make it to the Big Apple, $35 a candle isn’t a bad way to experience our culture. And if you can’t already tell, candles are the wave this year. Head over to literiecandle.com to purchase. They’re also launching a Miami and Los Angeles collection soon.
