It’s about quality, not quantity.

This year started off a little rocky, with the spread of the Omicron variant reigniting the fear of going back outside, and going into public indoor spaces. Luckily, we have started to see a decline in hospitalizations and it looks like optimism has started to pick back up, and movies have released their final delay notices (crossing my fingers).

While we got some solid movies in February, March is going to be a little bit of a lull. Nonetheless, we have one superhero film and a Pixar film to look forward to.

The Batman

Release date: March 4, 2022

Where to watch: In theaters

Matt Reeves’ The Batman follows a young Bruce Wayne in his sophomore year as the Dark Knight. The case at hand is uncovering the identity of the Riddler—a Zodiac Killer-esque murderer who is killing Gotham’s elite. This film claims to be very different from any of the Batman films we have seen in the past, with a grittier tone and leaning more into the mystery/detective work that the Dark Knight is known for. This film boasts a star-studded cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, and Paul Dano.

Turning Red

Release date: March 11, 2022

Where to watch: Disney+

This animated coming-of-age film follows Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother’s obedient daughter, and the chaos of her youth as an Asian American in Toronto. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda. This heartwarming Pixar film touches on the balancing act of adolescence.

Downton Abbey: A New Era

Release date: March 18, 2022

Where to watch: In theaters (and Peacock streaming app 45 days after premiere)

Your favorites from the award-winning period drama are back. The beloved Crawleys and their intrepid staff prepare for the most important moment of their lives. A royal visit from the king and queen of England soon unleashes scandal, romance and intrigue—leaving the future of Downton hanging in the balance.

The Lost City

Release date: March 25, 2022

Where to watch: In theaters (and Paramount+ 45 days after premiere)
