If you are reading this, you’ve decided that makeup is officially a part of your 2021 glow up. Men’s makeup is becoming a part of a normalized routine and we are seeing brands like LAKA and Chanel redefine the beauty industry by pushing gender inclusivity. There’s a lot to learn and the volume of information can hit you like a pile of bricks. Don’t worry, today we are going to keep it simple and start you off with a few products that will be the core of your potentially growing collection.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Concealer
  2. Translucent powder
  3. Bronzer
  4. Eyebrow gel
  5. Lip balm

Concealer is pretty self-explanatory. We all have our off-days with dark circles, hyperpigmentation, and acne. Sure, there are some days where you want to rock it bare-faced, but sometimes you want to cover up and pretend like you religiously drink 10+ bottles of water. Concealer tends to be on the heavier side, which makes sense because it’s primary function is to mask things. The Kosas Revealer Concealer ($28) is going to be your best friend because it’s packed with all the goodness of skincare so you’re treating your problem areas while they are covered up. Formulated with caffeine to perk up your eye bags and arnica to soothe irritated skin, you’ll look like you were born with immaculate genes.

Guys, you get really oily. I don’t know if your sister, mom, wife, girlfriend, or Saturday night booty call has broken it to you yet, but I am here to tell you that your faces get too oily for their own good. Translucent powder not only keeps your oils under control but also makes sure that the concealer you just expertly used stays put for the majority of your day. The Supergoop! Invincible Setting Powder ($30) not only has the setting powder built into the brush but also has SPF 45 (your skin is only as good so long as it’s protected from the sun’s extremely harmful UVA and UVB rays).

Bronzer is what’s going to give you a healthy glow and help you fake a more chiseled appearance. Cream bronzer is best because you want this step to look as natural as possible. If not blended properly, it can look streaky and make your skin look dull. The Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer ($28) comes in a stick form which makes this step in your routine a breeze. Just a few swipes on your face, blend out, and you’re good to go!

You guys have no business having ugly eyebrows. With great power comes great responsibility, and that responsibility is locking them in place so that they don’t look like bushy caterpillars by lunch. The NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel ($6) won’t break the bank and it will keep you looking groomed and valid through all your Zoom meetings.

I shouldn’t have to explain to you why you need lip balm in your routine. You know why you need a good lip balm. I am not going to go into the obvious details, but I will recommend the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm ($8). With SPF 25, this $8 lip balm will deeply hydrate your lips and protect them from sunburn and windburn.

Alright, you have the secrets, now get to glowing.
