Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” 2022 retro release info

The wait is about to be over.

It’s a sneaker that many would say they want and need in their rotation. And after a 7 year wait, prayers are finally being answered (again). The Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” is slated to retro this month and is promising to deliver the original ’85 vibes.

The shoe

If you don’t own the 1985 version, the 1994 version, the 2013 or 2015 versions, and even if you do, you’ll want to get this wearable pair in the coming weeks. Whether black or white laces are your flavor, there’s no mistaking that the classic red, black and white Chicago Bulls colorway on the AJ1 is one of the most coveted Air Jordans of all-time.

Versatility in styling as well as the history behind the Peter Moore-designed sneakers have made them the cultural icon they are today. While highly sought after and idolized nowadays, the original sneaker sat in stores and were even discounted at some point — a characteristic that Jordan Brand wanted to up-play in this retro release.

Playing on the vintage finds aspect of the sneaker’s history, the box comes in a weathered look and there are already pre-distressed cracked leather accents. A “old, hand-written” receipt pairs with the aged midsole and tongue to throw you back almost 40 years.

Release info

Nike, who’s in a battle to fight bots and resellers, is promising to “prioritize SNKRS Members who have been the biggest AJ1 fans” by giving them Exclusive Access in the app. Nike’s website had this to say about the Exclusive Access portion of the launch:

“Exclusive Access will provide some of our most dedicated SNKRS Members the opportunity to purchase the Air Jordan 1 ‘Chicago’. The offers will go out to a selection of Members who have entered and lost at least 20 different Air Jordan 1 High releases on SNKRS.
Exclusive Access does not guarantee general availability or availability in your preferred size. For a greater opportunity to secure a pair in your size, it is recommended that you have Push Notifications enabled so you know if you are given Exclusive Access. Exclusive Access will be sent to select Members on November 8th.”

So basically, if you’ve taken at least 20 L’s in the past and kept track, you have a good shot at these (we think). The Exclusive Access will go out tomorrow (11/8/22) ahead of the general release (11/19), so keep your notifications on and your phone close. We usually see EA going out around 12pm ET so just be aware around that time.

How to cop

Thankfully, Exclusive Access is not the only way to get these. Retailing for $180, the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” (SKU DZ5485-612) will drop on November 19 via SNKRS app and select retailers.

Luckily for those with families and young ones, there will be a full-size run. The Big Kids’ sizes will cost you $140, while the Little Kids’ sizes are $85 each. Cute Toddler editions will be $70 and there will even be Infants’ pairs offered at $50 each.

Set those alarms and turn those notifications on now.
