I’ve never shopped at Patagonia. The quarter-zips and puff vests are a little too White man off-duty on Wall Street for my liking. But I’m highly considering it now with their new marketing stint. Patagonia has secretly sewn in labels that read, “VOTE THE ASSHOLES OUT,” and I am living. Like living, living. It goes without saying that the assholes are Agent Orange and his crew.
The United States has a critical election taking place in less than seven weeks and it’s really great – thrilling rather – to see brands respond with their platform and influence to steer voting the correct way. This isn’t Patagonia’s first public step in activism either, last year, the brand cancelled all partnerships with brands and influencers that didn’t fit their code of ethics, morals, and humanitarian views.
Patagonia has a reputation for fighting climate change: they’ve sued the Trump administration, actively working to protect national monuments and donate it’s tax-cut funds to environmental groups. This is just another step in fighting climate change deniers.
