The end of summer means that we have to start figuring out the year ahead. As creatives and artists, the best way to do so is through residencies, fellowships, and funding opportunities. Here is a roundup of some incredible opportunities with deadlines in August and September. Let’s jump right in.


CERF+’s COVID-19 Relief Grant Program

Deadline: August 31, 2021

“The COVID-19 Relief Grant provides $1,000 to artists working in craft disciplines who are facing dire circumstances due to food, housing, and/or medical insecurities as a result of the ongoing pandemic.”


Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing

Deadline: August 31, 2021

“There will be one first place prize of $3,000 dollars, and two runners up, awarded $1,000 each. The winning essay will be featured in GC’s printed journal, and the two runners-up will be considered for publication.”


Lower East Side Printshop Keyhold Residency

Deadline: September 1, 2021

“The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging artists free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies are free and one year long, starting on April 1st and October 1st each year, and they take place in the shared Artists’ Studio, including the solvent/etching area and the darkroom.”


CPR – Center for Performance Research 2022 Artist Residency

Deadline: September 7, 2021

“CPR – Center for Performance Research invites all eligible applicants to apply for its 2022 Artist-in-Residence Program. This year-long residency seeks to support a wide range of artists, from emerging to established, working within various perspectives of contemporary dance and performance, and time-based forms. Residents receive 150 subsidized rehearsal hours in the facility studios, curatorial support, access to equipment and production resources, a $1,000 stipend, and more.”


Manhattan Art Grants

Deadline: September 14, 2021

“The 2022 Manhattan Arts Grants are designed to support Manhattan artists and organizations in accessing public funds for presentations that respond to the current needs of our local communities and amplify the cultural breadth and identity of our city.”


Pioneer Works Music Residency

Deadline: September 30, 2021

“Pioneer Works welcomes residents who work outside existing models and “norms” of their field and will benefit from our unique facilities and culture. As such, Pioneer Works shifts and evolves to reflect the interests and work of each new cohort of residents, from public education offerings to Second Sundays, a monthly forum of artistic experimentation through activations, open studios, and performance.”
