A spectrum of colors to choose from.

A new week means new footwear releases. We started off our Rock, Stock of Flip? column last week with some heat from both Nike and adidas. As temperatures across the country continue to rise in peak summer season, more and more people have been tempted to go outside, even amidst the pandemic. If you must, please stay safe and follow your local area’s guidelines.

This week, our team each picked a pair of sneakers that they felt would be great for post-COVID. We’re here to summarize some of the releases that are occurring and hopefully help you make sense of what to wear, what to hold and what to sell. We’ll also be sharing more content like this through our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts so please give us a follow. Let’s jump into it.

Nike SB Dunk Low PRM “Denim Gum” aka “Sashiko”

Nike SB has really found their rhythm and earns another spot on the list this week. Denim has covered the Dunk Low silhouette since SB’s inception on the Reese Forbes Denims and then again on the Medicom 2s. It was also recently used on the “Rivals Pack (East)” sneaker in 2018. But none of those iterations channeled Japanese craftsmanship the way this new “Denim Gum” variant does. With an upper covered in both suede and denim in various shades of blue, the sneaker’s lateral side is done with Sashiko – a type of decorative Japanese reinforcement stitching that has been around since the Edo era. The beautiful white stitching is also incorporated into the Nike Swoosh logo. These seem to be an international only release at this point so if you can get your hands on them, they’re an absolute keeper. size? is one of few retailers that will drop these, head to their Launches app to purchase. – Matt

New Balance OMN1S Low

Recently, New Balance has further cemented itself in the realm of lifestyle footwear. While doing so, the brand has been prepping to enter the next phase of performance sportswear. The OMN1S Low is New Balance’s first low-top basketball model. It features FitWave, FuelCell technologies, and Ultra Heel lock-in in a more compact form. The style’s inaugural “Berry Lime” colorway is the perfect summer fit. The bold purple is complemented by a high-vis yellow hue across the midfoot strap, with branding on the shoe’s tongue and an impeccable outsole. The OMN1S Low is set to launch at newbalance.com on July 30 to coincide with the NBA’s resume of play for the 2019-20 season. If you manage to nab a pair, I’d recommend wearing these on your next outing excursion. – Sahar

Nike SB Dunk Low “Jason Voorhees” Custom by Warren Lotas

Designer Warren Lotas is known for his punk art designs that pay homage to cultural icons like comics, movies and sports. After releasing a custom pair of Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers in white and red with a Jason Voorhees Mask Swoosh logo at the end of last year, the artist returns with another version, this time in a “Heineken”-esque colorway. With the Nike SB hype at unimaginable heights and the love for the cult favorite Friday the 13th series strong, this pair will be difficult to acquire. Only 2,000 pairs will be made and each will be numbered. The release will take place on Lotas’ website. He has already ordered the sneakers and warned of international shipping delays due to COVID. He’s promised to give the sneakers + $100 to anyone who orders them and doesn’t have them shipped before October 15. I’m a flip on this one, hold them until Halloween season and these will be bread. – Matt

adidas ZX 2K

I must admit, I barely wear sneakers in the summer. I run really warm and the summer heat is too much to bear in sneakers. But, I’m willing to make an exception for adidas’ latest drop. The ZX model has been around since 1984 and has been perfecting comfort and style ever since. This ZX 2K is an ode to the original runners and has firecracker red uppers, solar yellow backing and a sock-like fit. It’s perfect for walking around the city or running errands without compromising style and comfort. The release will take place on adidas’ website this weekend. – Natasha
