For me, allergies and 4/20 signal in the real start of spring here in the Big Apple. While there’s nothing I can do about the allergies, 4/20 this year will be different, thanks to the legalization of recreational bud in NYC. Looking forward to spring and the upcoming holiday for stoners, brands are dropping hi-vis heat and special edition sneakers, so let’s jump right into it.
Nike Dunk Low “Green Glow”
A women’s exclusive colorway, these Dunk Lows have a beautiful pastel green that cover the leather overlay panels on the sneaker. For anyone that thinks the Dunk craze will die this year, you’re mistaken. Like I’ve said with every other pair of Dunks, if you aren’t picking up a pair for yourself or your significant other, grab these to flip. SNKRS app will drop these alongside select retailers.
Release Date: April 16, 2021
Retail: $100
Resell pre-release: $315 – $900
Nike Air More Uptempto “Black/Varsity Red”
This one is for all the Bulls fans out there. If you remember the ’90s Bulls squads, you’ll remember this model on Pippen’s feet. You can’t miss the huge “AIR” lettering on the sneaker and visible Air units throughout. One of Nike’s greatest marketing tools on-foot, these make a comeback and will be for the diehard Nike Basketball heads. SNKRS app and select retailers will have you covered. Cop to rock because unless you have ones that say “SUPREME” on them, these aren’t worth flipping.
Release Date: April 16, 2021
Retail: $160
Resell pre-release: $185 – $265 (2017 model, exact same colorway)
Nike Air Huarache “Escape”
An extremely popular colorway on Nike footwear back in the ’00s, the 2003 “Escape” colorway is making a return on the Huarache model. You can tell that the colorway palette was originally inspired heavily by the outdoors – with earthy tones of beige, brown and deep forest green. Applied on the intricate design of the Huarache, there’s no better pairing for the silhouette and colorway than this. You’ll have to enter a raffle at retailers like END. if you hope to cop for retail.
Release Date: April 16, 2021
Retail: $125
Resell pre-release: $225 – $400
Sean Wotherspoon x adidas ZX 8000 “Superearth”
Part of their continuing A-ZX series, adidas has tapped Sean Wotherspoon for the “W” sneaker. With recycled materials and the spirit of DIY, this ZX 8000 not only celebrates our planet and thinking about sustainability, it also shows that any sneaker can truly become a canvas for walking art that is only limited by the imagination of its designer. While these don’t command the astronomical resell figures of Wotherspoon’s Nike collaboration, they are unique and I’m sure we’ll see them all over the streets this summer. Hit up adidas’ CONFIRMED app and select retailers like Feature and Extra Butter for raffles.
Release Date: April 16, 2021
Retail: $140
Resell pre-release: $285 – $500
Air Jordan 1 “Hyper Royal”
It goes without saying, the Air Jordan 1 started it all and will always hold a special place in the sneaker game. I like Nike’s approach with the “Hyper Royal” variant dropping this week – where they’ve mixed darker blue stitching in on the lighter blue suede panels. White and grey will always look good on this high-top and are the perfect complementary colors in this case. Expect the release to see a lot of hype and resell value. Hit up SNKRS app and retailers to cop.
Release Date: April 17, 2021
Retail: $170
Resell pre-release: $470 – $850
Nike Air Huarache “Scream Green”
Following an earlier release last month across the pond, the “Scream Green” OG colorway of the Air Huarache will finally be available for diehard fans here. One of Tinker Hatfield’s greatest silhouette’s (the dude has a ton to choose from) there’s no denying how comfortable and recognizable this combination is. I waited patiently to own a pair for quite a while so I’ll be going in on these. OG colorways are always good to hold and flip years later, so that’s a move too. SNKRS app will be a struggle as always, but this is the life we’ve chosen.
Release Date: April 19, 2021
Retail: $120
Resell pre-release: $125 – 275
South Park x adidas Campus 80s “Towelie”
I actually am so hype for this collaboration. Towelie is one of the most famous characters from South Park and has always been a mascot for the use of cannabis. Designing the iconic Campus 80s model to fit the look of Towelie with purple terry loop throughout the upper and UV-activated red eyes on the tongue is beyond genius. Throw in the hidden pockets on the back of the tongues along with some keychains and you have a home run sneaker. These are a must. You can expect these to hold value for years to come. Hit up adidas’ CONFIRMED app to cop.
