Rock, Stock or Flip? This week’s sneaker releases

words by: Matt Peng
Feb 3, 2021

Regardless of the snow storm that hit us this week, I’ve been locked in and sifting through various sneaker releases for the last few days. Trying to keep up with regional exclusives and collaborations, I found it helpful to make a list and as usual, I’m sharing that list with all of you this week on our Hot Cakes column. So let’s jump right into it.

CLOT x Air Jordan 35 “Jade Warrior”

When it comes to reppin’ for Chinese culture, it’s hard to find anyone that goes harder than Edison Chen and Kevin Poon of CLOT. No strangers to teaming up with Jordan Brand for fire collabs, their latest celebratory footwear arrives in the form of the new Air Jordan 35 silhouette and the jade makeover they’ve given it definitely earns this nickname. The Eclipse Plate 2.0 is beautifully covered in jade while a grey suede upper comes together with creamy leather, gold accents and red Flightwire to create a truly jaw-dropping sneaker. These are a must-have and they’ll ring in the new JUICE app as well. Fans in Asia will get dibs on these so check their Instagram post for all the details.

Release Date: February 5, 8, and 10, 2021
Retail: N/A
Resell pre-release: $3,000

Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals HU NMD “Cream”

Skateboard P strikes once again with another colorway of his signature adidas Originals HU NMD sneaker. The crazy thing about this pair is that his friends and family were gifted these with the help of the robot pictured above. Using the Korean characters for “Human Race,” the words physically stand out on the knitted ribbed upper – a first for the sneaker. Pink accents on the heel tab and blue on the forefoot plugs help bring together the brown cage. These are absolutely wild, and while the robot won’t be included, I’d still cop. Hit up BBC and the Confirmed app to get your pair – there’s only 250 to go around…

Release Date: February 5, 2021
Retail: N/A (Most likely $220)
Resell pre-release: N/A

END. x SOPHNET. x Dr. Martens 1461 Shoe “Camo”

So these aren’t sneakers but this collaboration is absolute fire to me because it bridges different brands and cultures. Fellow UK country mate END. and Japanese brand SOPHNET. come together to celebrate the 1461 silhouette’s 60th anniversary with Dr. Martens. The low-cut shoe gets the stars treatment on its smooth leather upper and AirWair heritage is kept intact with the yellow welt stitching. I’m a sucker for camo and this beautiful rendition is a must-have for those days you feel like dressing up. Head over to END. now to enter the raffle and good luck.

Release Date: February 5, 2021
Retail: $189
Resell pre-release: N/A

Air Jordan 12 Low “Black/Metallic Gold”

The Air Jordan 12 Low doesn’t get the love its taller brethren gets but that’s changing with this pair. Clearly drawing some inspiration from the “Flu Game” color palette, these arrive one day before the Super Bowl and coincidentally, regardless of who wins, both teams have their colors represented in this model. The gold highlights and confetti sockliner also bring the feeling of celebration into this pair so head over to SNKRS app and select retailers to cop.

Release Date: February 6, 2021
Retail: $190
Resell pre-release: $250 – $750

Air Jordan 5 “Anthracite”

These might be a travesty to diehard Air Jordan 5 fans as JB has decided to switch up everything we’re familiar with for the “Anthracite” version. The Durabuck that we usually expect on the upper has been replaced with grey suede on the heel and toe while black mesh covers the mid panels. Instead of a reflective 3M tongue, an all-black Jumpman is used as well as blacked out “23” on the heels. If these entice you, head over to SNKRS app to cop as well as retailers like Feature.

Release Date: February 6, 2021
Retail: $190
Resell pre-release: $290 – $400

AMBUSH x Converse CTAS Duck Boot “Light Blue”

I was a huge fan of the AMBUSH x Converse Chuck 70 that dropped in 2019 and I’m excited the two brands are coming together once again for more military-inspired footwear releases. While these “Light Blue” CTAS Duck Boots definitely won’t keep you camouflaged, they’re sure to keep your feet dry in these harsh winter conditions with their rubber lugged outsoles and toe box design as well as woven poly-cotton upper. They’re also gender-free and announce to the world what size shoe you wear so that’s dope. Hit up SNKRS app for these and
