With everyone swarming to parks and restaurants to make up for a year of lost time, it’s important to make sure you come correct. For many, the first place eyes glance are at the feet – probably cause New Yorkers have to avoid dog shit, gum, spit and a ton of nasty critters on the streets. So step up your summer footwear game, or add to it, with this week’s sneaker releases. Let’s jump right into it.
Nike Dunk Low “Varsity Maize”/Nike Dunk Low “Varsity Green”
Nike brings back more OG hoop-inspired Dunks this week, this time in the Low iteration. Fans will remember that the Michigan and Michigan State school colors donned the Dunk High back in September of last year. With a low-top rendition, you won’t get a weird tan line rocking these on the daily. The best part of the release is that there’s full-size runs for the entire family! Hit up SNKRS app for both the Michigan and Michigan State Dunk Low this week.
Release Date: June 3, 2021
Retail: $120 (Adult), $85 (Big Kids), $65 (Little Kids), $50 (Toddlers)
Resell pre-release: $190 – $305 (Michigan), $245 – $450 (Michigan State)
Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low “Miami Nights”
I talked in-depth about the LBJ 8 Low “Miami Nights” when they released last month at select quickstrike accounts. I didn’t hit on previous raffles so I’m happy to have another slim (basically 0%) chance to try via SNKRS app. Whether or not you’ll be hitting up South Beach anytime soon, the nightlife we’ve all missed (or haven’t missed) inspired this timeless pair and it’s the hot boy and hot girl summer sneaker to have.
Release Date: June 4, 2021
Retail: $180
Resell pre-release: $190 – $590 (larger sizes)
Nike Air Max 97 “Puerto Rico”
Around this time last year, Nike cancelled the highly anticipated Air Force 1 “Puerto Rico.” This year, the Swoosh once again honors the culture and history that Puerto Ricans have contributed to not only stateside culture, but worldwide. The AM97 “Puerto Rico” takes on the classic “Silver Bullet” colorway with some modifications on the tongue tab and under the sole – the Puerto Rican flag adorns both. Additional hints of navy blue and red accent the sockliner and rear heel while “Aquí Me Quedo,” (Here I’ll Stay) is the mantra chosen for the insole. Hit up SNKRS app for these.
Release Date: June 5, 2021
Retail: $175
Resell pre-release: $270 – $1,000
fragment design x Nike Dunk High “Beijing”
For those unfamiliar with the Dunk game of the 2000’s, fragment design’s upcoming Dunk High this week is actually a modified version of a 2010 release. The original trio from 2010 was an homage to three cities – New York, London and Beijing. This black/purple colorway is the “Beijing” version but altered to have the SKU on the white midsole. The original pair also had mismatched color blocking which made them stand out above other releases. Either way, these look great. SNKRS app and select retailers will drop them via raffle.
Release Date: June 5, 2021
Retail: $150 (Adults), $100 (Little Kids)
Resell pre-release: $265 – $370
adidas YEEZY 500 “Taupe Light”
If you’re like me, YEEZY colorways start to look the same after a while – especially the earthy tones. What makes Kanye a genius is his ability to name all these similar hues. This week, a YEEZY 500 arrives in “Taupe Light” which looks close to the “Blush” colorway from 2018. I always love adding in beiges and tans into the wardrobe so these are worth the effort on adidas Confirmed app and yeezysupply.com as well as retailer raffles.
Release Date: June 5, 2021
Retail: $200
Resell pre-release: $330 – $850 (larger sizes)
