This week we’re highlighting some exceptional collaborations for our Hot Cakes column. Due to COVID-19, sneaker release dates are being unexpectedly pushed back constantly so if you’re seeking to make a quick buck or add a fresh new pair into post-quarantine rotations, it’s key to stay on top of your information and hit up shops through social media or via phone (like the good old days). Here’s the hottest releases this week that you won’t want to miss, so let’s jump right into it.
Nike SB Dunk Low “Street Hawker”
It’s only January but these might turn out to be the release of the year before 2021 is out. Chinese artist Jason Deng tapped into six Chinese cities and six elements of traditional food in those cities to create this culinary masterpiece on a sneaker canvas – shaved ice (Taipei), spicy hotpot (Chengdu), roast goose (Guangzhou), pita bread soaked in mutton soup (Xi’an), plain noodle (Shanghai) and donut (Beijing). Nike SB’s website gives a great rundown on the design and all the various materials used to make this one come alive. This is a must-have and it’ll release this week via skate accounts like Extra Butter while SNKRS releases them a week later on January 22.

Supreme x Nike Air Max Goadome
Nike‘s Air Max Goadome silhouette is one of its more obscure models but don’t get it twisted, if you want Air Max comfort but the durability of a boot, this is the shoe for you. Teaming up with Supreme, two new colorways in red and black are being released this week. In addition to the normal premium leather offered on the upper, a debossed snakeskin pattern adorns the entire shoe. A mini Swoosh and Supreme tag are the only brand markings on the side panel but “SUPREME” goes around the entire heel in large font. These drop at Supreme stores and online this Thursday.

Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage “Rayguns”
The popular Roswell Rayguns series from Nike that features a time-travelling all-star team is back with a full sneaker range this year. With an orange, yellow, black and white color palette along with the alien head ambassador logo, the Blazer variation is my favorite. Mismatched Swoosh logos on the lateral and medial as well as contrasting grey panels along the toe box make these out of this world. Hit up SNKRS and your local retailers for the entire “Rayguns” collection.

Michael Lau x PUMA Ralph Sampson 70 Mid “White”
Michael Lau and PUMA has worked together on multiple collaborations and this year, they’re using the Ralph Sampson 70 Mid as an artistic canvas for the famed toy designer and artist. Lau has chosen to complement the white leather upper with suede overlays in bright pastels like blue, yellow and pink. His graphic screen-printed artwork runs around the entire sneaker to add a new dimension while mismatched laces finish off the sneaker. These are the perfect spring time pair of kicks and will be available via raffle from retailers like Feature.
