Rock, Stock or Flips? May 5, 2021 sneaker releases

Who has the better collabs this week?

It’s another week of hope sneaker releases as the weather starts to turn for the better. adidas is really stepping up this week with a plethora of collaborations and variety of offerings. There’s also some heavy hitting basketball silhouettes returning soon for when you hit the playgrounds and drop buckets. Let’s jump right into it.

Supreme x Nike Air Max 96

I already talked about how the transparent theme from the mid-2000s seems to be making a comeback earlier this week and we’ll find out just how well fans will react tomorrow. Air Max runners will always be in demand because of the comfort they provide for those who don’t partake in an active lifestyle wearing them – and current Supreme fanboys are great examples of that. As always, if you can get your hands on these via, you’ll make a pretty penny.

Release Date: May 6, 2021
Retail: N/A
Resell pre-release: $350 – $1,000

Reebok Pump Omni Zone II

I will say it outright, ’90s basketball and the sneaker game back then, was the peak of innovation and setting the stage for our current sneaker culture. In 1991, Dee Brown famously took off in the Dunk Contest rocking these (in black), making sure he pumped them before hammering home dunks that sent guys like Magic Johnson saying “That’s a Dominique dunk!” The white version is the perfect summer stunt whether you can or cannot ball. Hit up SNS to enter the raffle today.

Release Date: May 7, 2021
Retail: $140
Resell pre-release: $300 – $400

LEGO x adidas ZX 8000 “Bricks” Collection

LEGO and adidas continue to release more footwear together following their Ultraboost DNA pair from earlier this year. This time, the duo have chosen to celebrate the DNA of the Danish toy brand with a “Brick” collection that consists of the 6 primary LEGO Brick colors: grey, yellow, green, blue, red and black. I’m a fan of the ZX 8000 sneaker for this because of its blocky stance and nature and the fact that adidas was able to incorporate the yellow lining around the LEGO branding onto the Three Stripes is so dope. Choose your color(s) via come release day.

Release Date: May 7, 2021
Retail: $140
Resell pre-release: $165 – $325

adidas YEEZY 500 “Enflame”

The Three Stripes have been obsessed with orange outsoles lately. The new YEEZY 500 “Enflame” follows in the footsteps of the YEEZY BOOST 700 “Bright Blue,” released two weeks ago. Sorry folks but no BOOST here. Instead you get an earthy palette that is trademark Kanye and a blend of mesh and suede across the upper panels complemented by the adiPRENE outsole. Personally, the 500 model is not for me because of the lack of BOOST, so these are a flip. Hit up Confirmed app and select retailers to cop.

Release Date: May 8, 2021
Retail: $200
Resell pre-release: $320 – $490

BAPE x adidas Originals Superstar 80s “Green Camo”

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Shelltoes, BAPE drips out the model in its signature ABC CAMO print. The two have been working together collaboratively on handfuls of footwear for years and its only right that the Shooting Star and Three Stripes take on asymmetrical upper branding. Gold detailing of letters, gold lace locks and a special box make this a must have for fans of hip-hop. These went on sale at BAPE exclusively last weekend but you get a second chance this week at retailers like SNS and Extra Butter, so enter the raffles now.

Release Date: May 8, 2021
Retail: $150
Resell pre-release: $200 – $330

Air Jordan 7 “Flint”

After a 15 year hiatus, the Air Jordan 7 “Flint” will receive a retro. An even mixture of white leather overlays and Flint Grey nubuck quarter panels come together for this unique colorway – only giving way to Court Purple on detailing like the Jumpman logos and “23” on the heel. Not one of the popular AJ7 colorways, these will be a hard flip so only cop if you have an outfit ready. SNKRS app will have these in a family size run, good luck.

Release Date: May 8, 2021
Retail: $190
Resell pre-release: $235 – $530

Stingwater x Nike SB Dunk Low “Magic Mushroom”

Stingwater is a fun lifestyle brand with a mischievous demeanor about their apparel lineup and culture – they also seem to love mushrooms (which kind of has eyes that look like the CDG logo to me). Getting the collaborative call from Nike SB, the label has decided to celebrate the other-worldly and often times overlooked healing properties of mushrooms with these sneakers. The jewel Swoosh, quilted sockliner, safari print overlay (which mimics the top of mushrooms), clear translucent outsole and hidden tongue stash pocket make these ultra wavy. You will definitely be able to flip for a nice chuck of cash or rock these for your next microdosing session. SNKRS app will probably hand you an L first though.

Release Date: May 10, 2021
Retail: $125
Resell pre-release: $500 – $1,350

Nike Basketball LeBron VIII V/2 Low QS “Miami Nights”

This is my personal favorite release because the LeBron 8 is still my favorite basketball sneaker to play in till this day. Dropped as a quickstrike (that’s what the QS stands for) back in 2011 when King James decided to take his talents to South Beach, the extremely Miami-like colors on the model blended so well with the Flywire technology, full-length Air cushioning unit and speckled print. I’ve been wanting a pair for over 10 years and now they will finally return via raffle at retailers like SNS and END. These have always held their value in the resell market if that’s the avenue you’re looking to take.

Release Date: May 11, 2021
Retail: $180
Resell pre-release: $665 – $1,275

Craig Green x adidas ZX 2K Phormar

Craig Green has been an adidas collaborator for years and his pieces always push the boundaries of footwear. For the new collection, the ZX 2K Phormar introduces us to a collapsible sneaker that is held in place by a tension nylon upper with synthetic leather overlays. The unique lacing system and transparent upper pair with BOOST to really give you a futuristic booty vibe. I am a huge fan of these and will definitely be camping online for them in both the Blue/Core White/Core Black and Core White/Core White/Core Black colorways.
