Netflix’s Stranger Things Day hyped the release of the show’s upcoming fourth season with, among other things, a new teaser trailer. Fans were curious about how the story would move along now that the Byers and Eleven have moved out of Hawkins (not to mention, Hopper still missing—and potentially in Russia).

The teaser trailer answered as many questions as it could — it’s all about Spring Break. According to Eleven, it’s going to be the “best spring break ever.”

Here’s what we know so far

So far, there are a lot of great things about Stranger Things season 4. The main draw is the ’80s nostalgia. Yes, era-driven nostalgia is always a great sell, but what distinguishes Stranger Things from so many other shows is that it’s dependent on its characters.

At the core of the show is Mike and Eleven, and fans have watched the two of them grow closer since they met in Season 1. During the entire trailer, Eleven is narrating a letter to Mike.

She starts by writing, “Dear Mike, it’s day 185.” She talks about how much she enjoys her new life and how she has “finally adapted.” Despite the chipper tone in her voice, we can see that the opposite is true.

The one thing that did ring true was Eleven’s excitement to see Mike during spring break. In Eleven’s greeting, she says, “It’s day 185.” It seems like counting the days that they’ve been apart from one another is becoming a pattern.

Back in Stranger Things Season 1, Eleven defeated the Demogorgon and disappeared. Following her disappearance, Mike counted the days for almost a year while trying to make contact with Eleven. The counting of the days lasted until Season 2, when they were finally reunited.

Missing from this teaser are Steve, Sadie, Dustin, and Max. This could mean that the group will be separated for a period of time. Mike, Eleven, Will, and Jonathan in California and Steve, Sadie, Dustin, Lucas and Max remain in Indiana.

Stranger Things season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix in summer 2022.

In other entertainment related news, Rick and Morty Season 6 will premiere in 2022.
