True Religion is making what some might call a comeback into the denim space – probably thanks to Travis Scott. Back in the mid- to late-2000’s, everyone was wearing the American denim brand thanks to hip-hop artists. Whether it was various colors of the U logo all over jeans on the front and rear or the Laughing Buddha logo, it was all over the streets. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy again last year, the brand has been tapped by Supreme for a capsule collection.
Supreme x True Religion Fall/Winter 2021
Always known for their denim jackets and jeans, True Religion has crafted a Canadian Tuxedo for Supreme in four colors – black, navy, pink and woodland camo. The denim Trucker Jacket and matching denim Cargo Pant arrive with heavily outlined seams, which brings back the early aesthetic of the brand.
As expected, the U logo adorns the breast pockets of the jacket, the small waist pocket, and the rear pockets on the jeans. It’s very interesting to see cargo pockets appear on the jeans but that’s probably a nod to the cargo trend of the early- to mid-2000’s. Plus, an overload of pockets seems to be back in trend these days.
If you aren’t into the vibes of the Canadian Tuxedo, there’s also a full-zip hoodie. A two-tone wash covers the garment – light on top, dark on the bottom. The Buddha logo from True Religion sees Supreme’s “WORLD FAMOUS” words brand the left and right sides while “FOREVER BLESSED” adorns the bottom. You can grab the hoodie in either black, orange, purple or grey.
Finally, the collaboration comes with some headwear accessories. Beanies come in colors that match the hoodies while a 6-Panel hat (dropping at a later date) will be offered in black, navy, red, pink and white. The hat features a distressed brim and encrusted U logo as well as uneven seam stitching and a leather strap and buckle. As with any collection, you can try to mix and match pieces, assuming you manage to cop any for retail.
