It’s become increasingly clear that literally anything (and anyone) can pop up now that the multiverse has been introduced and in full effect. Marvel Studios has sent the fandom into full-blown collective insomnia since releasing their official Doctor Strange 2 trailer a month ago. Since hearing Sir Patrick Stewart’s voice in the trailer, people have come to the conclusion that this will be the MCU film to introduce the X-Men.
Potential appearance rumors started to swirl around the film following the film shoot delay that was due to last minute cameos. As of recently, many have begun to believe that Taron Egerton will either take on the coveted role of Wolverine as the official MCU Wolverine or a Wolverine variant.
To say that the anticipation for the arrival of the X-Men into the MCU is high is truly an understatement. Although the Avengers films have been extremely popular amongst MCU fans, the X-Men and their longstanding popularity have historically left the Avengers in the dust.
While many X-Men fans would love for Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine, a popular fan cast for the past several years has been Kingsman actor Taron Egerton. In an interview on The One Show, Egerton cleared up the rumors surrounding a potential cameo as the famed mutant, definitively stating, “There’s no truth in it at all. There’s no truth in it. It would, be, obviously, really exciting, but I don’t know.”
While he denies any involvement, he has made it clear that he would be more than happy to take the part. “That’s like playing Bond… It would be exciting to play a role where you play to by such a huge audience. Those movies are the most watched movies in the world.” Finally, he commented on the rumors once again, stating outright, “It’s a great thrill and it’s a great part. But there’s no truth in it. Very flattering, though.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release in theaters on May 6, 2022. Here’s everything you should watch before Doctor Strange 2 drops.
