With one of Midtown High’s best and brightest as their newest intern, nonetheless.

The new Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures joint-venture, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is closing in on Avengers: Infinity War for the 5th-highest grossing film ever stateside and the Daily Bugle is ahead of the curve and on TikTok. We were first introduced to the Daily Bugle in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, with actor J.K. Simmons playing New York City’s #1 Spider-Man hater and the Daily Bugle editor-in-chief, J. Jonah Jameson. Simmons is set to reprise his fan-favorite role in the newest Spider-Man film.

The Daily Bugle didn’t play much of a role in Peter Parker’s life (while being played by Tom Holland), but it was a large part of Peter Parker’s life (while being played by Tobey Maguire) in the Sam Raimi trilogy. It’s very likely that we will see Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man appear alongside Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in the upcoming MCU film, so it’s no surprise that a large part of Maguire’s character’s double life will be involved as the wildfire news provider.

Now that we are in a new age of journalism and newspapers are nearly obsolete, the Daily Bugle has pivoted and started a TikTok account. If it seems a bit out of character for J. Jonah Jameson to agree to join the social media platform, get this — the first video on their page is ushered in by Betty Brant (played by Angourie Rice), ex-girlfriend to Peter’s best friend Ned and news anchor at their high school Midtown High. Betty excitedly announces she’s running the Daily Bugle TikTok as their newest intern, though her attitude dampens when she discovers she’s actually unpaid and finds out that she might be required to bad mouth Spider-Man, to which she mentions she doesn’t feel comfortable with because she is friends with Peter Parker.

@thedailybugleofficialTell us you hate Spider-Man without telling us… (even if you don’t actually hate him).

In the true fashion of tabloids, the Daily Buglis offering fans their own Daily Bugle reporter pack to share their own “Spider-Man sightings, misguided opinions, vague rumors and craziest conspiracy theories,” on the social media app. By downloading the pack, you’ll be given access to your own TikTok Daily Bugle background, which you can use to join Brant in her promise to deliver fans the sort of “fair, balanced and hard-hitting news you’ve grown to expect from the Bugle.”
