Tom Sachs’ NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe restocks this week

Yellow is a fall vibe.

Tom Sachs creates some of the most desirable Nike sneakers through his NikeCraft program. He runs everything through rigorous tests and even gets the community involved. Earlier this June, he dropped the General Purpose Shoe which was supposed to be “boring” but durable. It arrived in blue and instantly sold out. He restocked it in August and it sold out again.

So on September 1st and 2nd, Sachs dropped a yellow version of the sneaker on nikecraft.com and through select retailers. I bet you can guess my next sentence. That’s right, it sold out again. Now, the yellow version of the General Purpose Shoe will restock through SNKRS app after experiencing multiple delays.

While the campaign for the first colorway of the sneaker was “BORING.,” the latest one runs with the slogan of “CREATIVITY IS THE ENEMY.” Sachs is a master of drawing inspiration from OG Nike running ads and fonts and his messaging is always to be yourself but also to think about sustainability.

For those who don’t want to read it, here’s a short summary “Resist newness for newness’ sake. True development is the practice of continuous refinement. An even-better sneaker. A never-settle sneaker. A round-the-clock, made-to-last, built-to-code sneaker. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it.”

For those who’ve never had the privilege of owning a Tom Sachs-designed sneaker (they’re expensive af on the resell market), I can tell you from firsthand experience that they are some of the most comfortable sneakers you will wear. You can tell that the constant feedback and input from testers have value.

Chances are there will be another colorway of this popular silhouette that will release in the future. If you’re like me and think yellow is a great fall color to add into the rotation, get ready.

How to cop

The NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe “Archive” will release via SNKRS app on Thursday, September 29, at 10AM ET for $109.99. It’ll be available in women’s sizing so be careful at checkout.
