Last week, on May 20 specifically, Travis Scott released his CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Trainer 1 collection on his website, which garnered over 1 million raffle entries in 30 minutes. His latest collection was originally slated to release during Astroworld Festival 2021, but Nike pulled the plug and postponed the drop after a crowd surge incident left 9 attendees dead and numerous others injured.

Following the event, La Flame was slammed by the media and public for apparently encouraging fans to sneak in during the event and faced further backlash from liking a Kanye West IG post demanding a Billie Eilish apology, all this after he said on his Instagram that he was “absolutely devastated” by what transpired.

He has since launched Project HEAL which in conjunction with his Cactus Jack Foundation is aiming to “solve challenges and overcome issues impacting the youth community.”

Either way, it seems that 6 months removed from the tragedy, Scott’s grip on sneaker sales and driving the hype machine is still as strong as ever. 1 million+ raffle entries in 30 minutes is a ridiculous benchmark to meet and match.

So Nike has officially decided to load up SNKRS app and give fans a chance to enter Draws for not only the CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Trainer 1 collection but also the CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Max 1 collection.

CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Trainer 1

The Air Trainer 1 has always been a functional and utilitarian shoe — after all it was Nike’s first-ever cross-training sneaker and multi-sport phenom Bo Jackson even approved. Adding onto the silhouette’s already illustrious 35 year history, the redesign is ushering in a new era of discovery and exploration.

Built from corduroy, suede and mesh, there’s a small stash pocket on the heel with a zipper that allows you to carry whatever your heart desires. There’s also a removable shroud (think Air Jordan 17 accessory but with the Air Jordan 18 tongue shape) — this add-on can be stowed in a tongue pocket, snapped on or left off entirely.

The CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Trainer 1 will be offered through SNRKS app Draw on May 27 at 10AM EST for $160 in “Archaeo Brown & Rust Pink” and “Grey Haze & Dusty Sage.” Both pairs will command heavily favorable resell figures.

CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Max 1

The pair I personally favor more out of the 2 silhouettes is the AM1. Drawing inspiration from the Nike ACG Pocket Knife, specifically its drawstring Gillie lacing system, the Air Max 1 has been reimagined with custom nubuck and mesh overlays.

Travis Scott has taken his signature reverse Swoosh and added it to the lateral sides of the sneaker while implementing a rubberized tongue for added utility that isn’t present or needed on OG Air Max 1 models.

If you’re trying to get a run in while stunting, these are definitely going to do that.

The CACT.US CORP x Nike Air Max 1 will be offered through SNKRS app Draw on May 27 at 10AM EST for $150 in “CACT.US Gold” and “CACT.US Brown.” Both pairs will command heavily favorable resell figures.

We wish everyone good luck and if you’re a sneakerhead in NYC, check out the free Louis Vuitton and Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh exhibit this week.
